THEN: You read in our history, St. Luke's Episcopal Church was our home base from 2001 to 2016. That changed. We are seeking to continue BxRCT within the new YMCA located at Schieffelin Place/ 1250 229th Street, in the Bronx our home base,
It's now 2024. As we update our history, we are proud to include that we have accomplished our previously-stated goal of aligning BxRCT/NEW JAZZ CITY with the beautiful, new North East Bronx YMCA. We performed at the Y's ribbon cutting and since have presented two consecutive years of holiday-themed shows-DONA NOBIS PACEM and a Black History Dramatic Concert Recital called THE REAL McCOY. We also performed at LINCOLN CENTER'S Stanley Kaplan Penthouse for the elite patrons of the Y.
Dr. Belinda Miles has joined us, not only as a patron, but also as a performer. A fine singer, writer and community college president, Dr. Miles helped represent our musical thrusts in Berlin, Germany last fall before delighted SRO audiences. She has followed Jina Billups on vocals in recent years. We intend to soon do some shows where they both grace the stage together (a la Brazil 66).
Meanwhile, we are researching new venues, including JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (Particularly Dizzy's CLUB). We look forward to continuing our recording and film making; expanding our fan base as well as our patronage.
